Membership Rules
Membership Eligibility
The RC
membership is divided into two categories :
Group A : MIA
Members, QE Students , MIT & MAAA Members and Staff
Group B : MIA External users/public

NOTE: Deposit
is to be paid once only. It is applicable to those who wish to borrow books.
Applying for RC Membership
The applicant must register in person at MIA RC during office hours. A valid
identification card showing the applicant’s affiliation must be presented.
Membership is not transferable. The application form is available at the counter
and on the MIA website.
Book Loan
Privilege
MIA members, QE Students, staff, MIT and MAAA Members are eligible to use all RC
facilities. MIA members, QE Students, MIT and MAAA members who wish to borrow
books are required to pay a deposit depending on the borrowing privilege offered
to them.
Deposits are refundable on termination of membership. Termination is acceptable
only after 1 year from the date of registration. Kindly attach original receipt
for deposit to claim deposit refund.
All
payments are to be made in cash, or crossed cheque/bank draft/postal order to
‘Malaysian Institute of Accountants’
Book Loan
Card
The Librarian will issue a Book Loan Card. The Book Loan Card is not
transferable.
Loss of
Book Loan Card
The user shall inform the Librarian immediately if the card is lost. A penalty
of RM5.00 will be charged for replacement of the card.

RC Memberships
External membership is open to Audit Firms and Individuals. Employees of audit
firms intending to use the RC regularly are required to pay the annual fee
through their respective firms (maximum 3 staff).

Membership
Card
The Librarian will issue a Membership Card. The Membership Card is not
transferable. Registered Member Firms will be issued 3 Membership Cards under
the name of the Firms for their staff members. Member Firms, who opt to pay the
book loan deposit, will be issued 2 Book Loan Cards for borrowing purposes.
Loss of
Membership Card or Book Loan Card
If the card issued to member is loss, report the loss immediately to the MIA
Resource Centre either in person, by phone or e-mail to
library@mia.org.my. The member will be responsible for materials taken out
with the book loan card until the member notifies the MIA Resource Centre
concerning the case. A penalty of RM5.00 will be charged for replacement of the
card.
Renewals
Books may be renewed for a further period of one week provided there is no
reservation by any other member. Renewals can be made either in person, by phone
or e-mail to
library@mia.org.my.
No item may be borrowed on behalf of another member without authorisation.
Fines
Books shall be returned on or before the due-date assigned. Members will be
fined RM0.50 per day for each book that is overdue. Fines will be deducted from
the deposit if necessary. Should your deposit fall below RM100 as a result of
payment of fines, you will be required to pay an amount which will bring your
deposit back to actual amount. No loans will be allowed until this amount is
paid.
Reservations
Books on loan may be reserved. A member who wishes to reserve any book for
borrowing may do so, upon availability of the book, the intending borrower will
be notified.
Membership
Cancellation
MIA Resource Centre reserves the right to cancel or suspend the membership and
borrowing privilege of any member for misconduct which includes contravention of
any of these rules and failure to return books after the third notice.
Lost or
damaged items
Borrowers are responsible for any books borrowed under his or her name and will
be liable for any damage or loss of books borrowed. Please report lost or damage
of books or materials immediately to the library.
A borrower will be charged the full cost of the book for every book lost, plus
10% of the book price (i.e. to cover the library processing cost for the book).
The affected member shall not be allowed to borrow any more books until such
cost has been reimbursed.
When a damaged item is returned to the library by the staff, the Librarian will
indicate in the records (Access Book) that the item has been damaged. If there
is spare book, a copy of the relevant section is made and replaced with a copied
version.
If the user that damaged the item can be traced, he/she will be charged for
items that they have borrowed and lost or damaged beyond repair. Replacement
costs include the price of the item plus 10% of the book price (i.e. to cover
the library processing cost for the book). If a lost item is found and returned
during the fiscal year that it was lost, the cost may be refunded.
Inter
Library Loan
MIA Resource Centre will assist registered members to access materials
unavailable in the MIA Resource Centre through Inter Library Loan through inter
library cooperation within the country. Any cost incurred including those
charged by the lending organization will be charged to members.
